Story Of A Senior Carer

Career Journeys

Alison's Story

  • I began working for Pacific Care 4 years ago as a care assistant and have now progressed to a Senior Carer. Previously I worked as a retail manager; I was made redundant and was interested in starting a career in the care environment. I had no experience but the skills that I thought I could bring to the role were patience and understanding and being a good team player. With training and encouragement from the management team and my colleagues, I obtained my SVQ 2 and I am now progressing towards achieving my SVQ 3. I had the opportunity to apply for the Moving & Handling trainer for which I was successful.

Pacific Care encourages progression throughout the company.

I enjoy my role, meeting new team members and interacting with my fellow colleagues. I am very happy in my role and look forward to furthering my career with Pacific Care.

Gemma’s Story

  • I have been working at Mosswood Care Home since January 2018 as Senior Care Assistant at Tay unit. From the day I started my role here I have felt welcomed and part of the team. The staff from all various departments all work as a team to create a warm and safe home for our residents.

From the day I started my role here I have felt welcomed and part of the team.

I enjoy my role at Mosswood and feel happy and settled here. I enjoy delivering high-quality care to our residents and being part of the puzzle that makes Mosswood a great place to work. I have attended some training courses since starting my role and also completed E-learning courses online, those courses were interesting and refreshed a lot of practices.
