Celebrating Dignity in Care with a “Digni-Tea”

In order to mark Dignity in Care 2018, Lillyburn Care Home near Kirkintilloch held a “Digni-Tea” to raise awareness and highlight the importance of dignity in care.
Members of the local community which included local councillors, Kirkintilloch Baptist Church, Caretas, and staff from the EDLC were invited to take part in the event. Residents, families, friends and staff joined the visitors to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea which was prepared by the Chef John and his team. Children from the local Primary also helped in preparing the afternoon tea for the event.
During the event, each table of attendees was asked to write a few lines about what dignity means to them and discuss their answers. The cards were gathered and will be displayed on Lillyburn’s dignity board over the following week.
Resident John Caulder discovered that one of the Local Councillors had attended the Scripture Union with him many years ago and they both very much enjoyed the catch-up.
John Hood, our maintenance man, gave a brief speech on the importance of raising awareness about the Dignity in Care campaign and urged everyone to become Dignity Champions.
Tommy reported that he thoroughly enjoyed the tea today. His sister also attended and said she had a lovely afternoon.
Lillyburn would like to thank everyone who took time out of their day to come along and support them. The event was a success and Lillyburn has done its part raising awareness about dignity in care.
